2. Talus
Only about one-fifth of the open pit walls will be stable
enough to permit any attempt at revegetation. The plan indi-
cates that , if practical, AMAX will (possibly by helicopter)
attempt to distribute some seed and fertilizer on those stable
areas only and have therefore allowed $250/acre for talus
acreages as a cost .
3 . Maintenance Fertilization
(Man-days) Labor Material Total
. 2 $ 25 $ 15 $ 40
B. Haul and Construction Related Costs
1 . Rock Haul
Hauling costs vary dramatically and are therefore very
difficult to predict . The costs of hauling rock included
herein were derived from the average cost for all highway
construction jobs done under contract to the Colorado State
Highway Department for the year. State costs were $. 16/ton for
loading and spreading and $.13/ton mile for hauling. We added
$ . 03/ton mile for road construction , maintenance and inflation.
2. Topsoil
The costs of hauling and spreading topsoil were calculated
at $1 . 40/yd3 averaged for all haul distances . The budgeted
quantities shown for the specfic sites add up to the total
basic commitment of 550 ,000 yd , but the quantities shown for
each site may or may not be used at that site . AMAX reserves
the right to determine where the soil can be used most
effectively.
3 . Flood Control
Robinson Pond $ 660 ,000/
Tenmile Pond 700 ,000'
Mayflower Pond 3 ,140 ,000✓
Total $4,500 ,000
C . Site Specific Reclamation Costs
The following are estimated costs of completing the reclamation
of each specific site. Area numbers are correlated to the maps.
Costs are 1985 dollars . Acreages of disturbance are projected
through 1986. Areas partially revegetated are itemized and assigned
appropriate costs to complete the reclamation from the present state
of progress . As in the past , "buffer" constitutes lands reserved
for future possible disturbance.
-2-
