ground water transmission during mining operations and will remain as part of the structures necessary
to achieve the post mining land use of developed water resource. During construction of the zoned
perimeter dam, ground water will be pumped from the Phase Two cell to the Arkansas River to
facilitate construction.
(d) The size of the area(s) to be worked at any one time:
Since this is a phased operation, the area to be excavated at any one time will vary between 9 to 10
acres.
(e) An approximate timetable to describe the mining operation:
This is a long -term mining operation. It will be a phased operation and will gradually continue
excavation utilizing a floating bond concept. The mining schedule is approximate. All phases in the
timetable are dependent on market conditions, (Please see Exhibit "C ", Map Legend for "Estimated
Mining Timetable ").
Reclamation will follow mining as closely as operationally feasible. Since the post mining land use
will be developed water resource and rangeland, a significant part of site reclamation will be grass
seeding for rangeland until the developed water storage option is commences. Slurry walls will be
constructed only after the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety have approved an approved
Technical Revision. The mining slopes, as they approach the proposed location of a slurry walls, will
be mined at an appropriate angle (3H: 1V) such that the integrity of the virgin earth protecting the
slurry wall is maintained. Pit slope mining configurations will ensure that the pit slopes interiors to a
slurry wall are stable under a wet or saturated condition.
An estimate of the periods of time which will be required for the various stages or phases:
Mining operations are planned to begin as soon as all required permits and licenses are obtained.
First, to be developed will be Phase One. It is planned to have 80% of Phase One reclaimed in
approximately five (5) years then move to Phase Two to continue mining and keep the 10 acres
bonding in force. Phase Two mining will begin about the time Phase One reclamation is nearing
completion. The sequence of events as stated above will be repetitive for the life of the Mine.
