historical volume of ditch water.
• Water pipelines:
Upon final reclamation, several buried water delivery pipelines will be constructed as
part of the developed water resource reclamation plan. Connecting buried water
pipelines will run from Phase One to Phase Two cell. A buried discharge water pipeline
will run from the Phase Two cell to the Arkansas River.
The buried pipelines will be installed in excavated trenches with appropriate bedding
materials, obtained from the sand and gravel extraction operation. Trenches and
placement of the waterlines will be accomplished using equipment suitable for such
construction, such a long reach backhoes, draglines, dozers, front -end loaders and
motor - graders. Upon completion of pipeline installation, all associated affected lands
will be reclaimed according to the approved reclamation plan.
(c) Water diversions and impoundment:
Crossing portions of the proposed mining area is the Excelsior Ditch. The Ditch is owned, maintained
and operated by Excelsior Ditch Company. The Applicant/Operator has agreements with the Excelsior
Ditch Company to relocate the ditch to the north of the proposed mining area as shown on Exhibit "C"
Mining Plan Map. The Excelsior Ditch diversion will be trapezoidal in shape, being approximately 15
feet wide at the invert of the channel with 2 horizontal to 1 vertical side slopes.
Outside of relocating the Excelsior Ditch, no surface water features exist in the mining or processing
areas. Therefore, no other diversions or impoundments (other than the water storage structures,
emergency spillways and associated discharge conveyance structures) are planned.
A Stormwater Management Plan will be developed and implemented and a Stromwater Permit will be
obtained from the Water Quality Control Division, Department of Public Health and Environment,
State of Colorado prior to mining and construction activities.
The slurry walls and the zoned perimeter dam in Phase Two will be constructed in phases to mitigate
