The concrete and block wall materials, and all other rubble and debris shall be placed against
the various highwalls and cuts, and shall be evenly spread at the base of these features along
their lengths. All of the debris and rubble shall be covered by a minimum of four (4) feet of
backfill material during Task 4 (Earth Work), portion of the project.
Mine 1 Fan
Rubble from the demolition of the fan foundations may be placed within either of the two
entries at this location. Materials placed within the Mine 1 fan entry shall be placed so that
damage to the existing cinder block wall located approximately thirty (30) feet inside the entry
does not occur. The half-round corrugated metal shrouding at this location must be
completely filled from floor to ceiling and from the block wall to the entry. Void spaces shall
be minimized. If rubble is not sufficient to backfill the entries, the backfilling will be
completed under Task 4, Earth Work.
Mine 1 Yard
Debris scattered at this location will be collected from the surface of the yard area and from
the surface of the outslope. This material will be placed against the north westerly portion
of the highwall, and will be covered by backfill during Task 4, Earthwork.
Mine 1
Many of the structures at this site have been previously demolished. Retaining walls and
foundations still require demolition. Much of the rubble may be placed within the southern
mine opening. This entry consists of half-round corrugated metal estimated to be nine (9) feet
tall, twelve 0 2) feet wide and forty (40) feet deep. A single width concrete block wall seals
the entry at forty (40) feet within the entry. Materials placed within this entry shall be placed
so that damage to the existing cinder block wall does not occur. The half-round corrugated
metal shrouding at this location must be completely filled from floor to ceiling and from the
block wall to the entry. Void spaces shall be minimized. If the volume rubble is not sufficient
to backfill the entry, backfilling will be completed under Task 4, Earth Work.
Numerous foundations, walls, debris and rubble exists north of the open entry. These
materials will be placed against the cut slopes in those areas which are free of avalanche
hazards. The disposal areas will be designated by the PROJECT MANAGER, and will conform
to the areas designated for backfilling in Task 4, Earth Work. Generally, the disposal areas
are adjacent to the current location of the foundations and walls. In those instances where
foundations, rubble or building remnants would be covered by a minimum of four (4) feet of
material as a result of backfilling and grading operations contemplated in this Invitation for Bid,
removal of the structure is not required.
Mine 2
Concrete foundations exist parallel to the previously-existing conveyor which emerged from
this entry. The entire length of the foundations will be removed to a depth of three (3) feet
below ground level. A large foundation exists along the belt line about seventy five (75) feet
downslope from the mine entry. This structure may be collapsed upon itself and buried in
8
