TASK 1 MOBILIZATION AND DEMOBILIZATION
This task shall comply with specification 1.0, Mobilization/Demobilization, attached.
TASK 2 DEMOLITION
There are two overall objectives of the demolition task. The first is to demolish or bury
concrete and block wall building remnants and foundations, conveyor foundations and similar
materials which remain in the vicinity of Mines 1 and 2 including the associated fans, Mine
2 conveyor corridor, Mine 1 Storage Yard, Mine 2 Bathhouse Area, Lower Bench Area, the
Coal Silo Area, at a demolished building about 0.2 miles below the Lower Bench Area and at
two explosives storage bunkers located about 1 mile from the Lower Bench Area. The second
is to place the rubble produced by the demolition process against highwall remnants and/or
adjacent to cut slopes designated for backfilling at each work area.
The estimated volumes of concrete and block wall materials at each work area are as follows:
Mine 1 Fan 34 cubic yards
Mine 1 374 cubic yards
Mine 2 28 cubic yards
Mine 2 Bathhouse Area 218 cubic yards
Mine 2 Fan 234 cubic yards
Coal Silo Area 19 cubic yards
Lower Bench Area 7 cubic yards
Explosives Bunkers 50 cubic yards
The nrecedin4 figures are estimations only. CONTRACTORS are encouraged to perform
independent verification measurements in order to ascertain the true volume of materials at
each location.
All of the walls, floors, foundations and similar materials to a depth of three (3) feet below
ground surface, must be demolished and removed to the base of the highwall remnants or cut
slopes designated to be backfilled as available space at each area allows. In those instances
where foundations, rubble or building remnants would be covered by a minimum of four (4)
feet of material as a result of backfilling and grading operations contemplated in these Special
Conditions removal of the structure is not required.
All other rubble and assorted debris encountered in the project area will be removed and
placed with the building rubble at the base of the various highwalls and cuts so that no rubble
or debris remain at the work areas except at the disposal areas.
7
