•
Southern Permitted Area
Surface disturbances in this area include:
a. Mine portals
b. Mine yard
c. Mining buildings /trailers
d. Haulage ramps
e. Ventilation shafts
f. Berms and ponds
g. Utilities
h. Waste rock pile
i. Ore stockpile
(For a list of acreages associated with each surface disturbance see Exhibit D - Mining
plan).
a. Mine Portals
The 2 portals here will be backfilled with waste materials to a depth where
competent rock is encountered (approximately 50 - 100 feet). No grading of the
portal will be required as it sits in the cliff face.
b. Mine Yard
The mine yard was not stripped of soil; it will only need to be ripped and seeded.
c. Mining Buildings /Trailers
The supplies trailer, office trailer, and fuel tank will be hauled offsite. The
compressor shed will be dismantled and hauled of site. Its foundation will be
broken up and placed in the portal prior to backfilling the portal. The soil will
then be ripped and seeded.
d. Haulage Ramps
The haulage ramp leading directly to the portal will be ripped and covered with
the soils and rocks currently stored along the side of the ramp. It will then be
pocked to enhance the moisture retention potential and seeded. Large rocks will
be placed at the top of the ramp to discourage access.
The haulage ramps accessing the ore and waste stockpiles as well as any roads
built for access to the ventilation shafts will similarly be ripped, soil will be
distributed where needed based on availability and the areas will be pocked and
seeded.
e. Ventilation Shafts
At the ventholes, all surface structures will be removed. The cement pad will be
broken up and placed in the shaft. Then the shaft will be plugged using either
polyurethane foam with a thickness of 10 feet, or concrete with a thickness of
E -2
