h. Utilities
Electrical power is provided by the San Miguel Power Association. Additional
lines that may be needed for future ventilation shafts will be their responsibility to
provide. (For Cotter's agreement with the San Miguel Power Company see
Exhibit T - Permanent Man -Made Structures.)
Ventilation shafts will also be used as power drops as required (See Exhibit C for
locations.)
Due to the mine's proximity to Naturita, no overnight accommodations /showers
are necessary for employees. Bottled water will be brought in for drinking and a
surface water storage tank will be brought in for mining.
A septic tank and leach field was installed in the northern area of the mine but it
has since been completely reclaimed and there are no plans to install another one;
rather portable toilets will be brought in.
Ventilation Shafts
Currently there is one ventilation shaft completed and three more are planned.
Each ventilation hole will require a casing and concrete pad (approximately 9x9
feet and 2 -3 feet thick) to accommodate the fan. A water tank and pipe into the
mine may also be located within the same 0.25 acres permitted for these ventholes.
The original permit only included three ventholes. Cotter is requesting an
increase in acreage around those ventholes as well as the addition of a fourth
venthole. For original and revised acreages associated with each venthole site see
Exhibit C - Maps, Figure C4.
Second Escapeway
An emergency escape hoist set up is located at the venthole located in the NW '/a SW 1 /4
of Section 27.
