For a detailed description of all stormwater diversion structures and maps, see
Appendix III - Drainage Design Plan.
e. Fuel and Oil Storage Areas
Currently there is a 500 - gallon fuel storage tank on site that sits on the rim of the
sandstone bench above the San Miguel River on the south side of the Spring
Creek Mesa. Directly underneath the storage tank is a lined secondary
containment adequate to contain any spill.
No large quantities of oil will be stored on site. When mining activity begins it
may be necessary to store small quantities (5- gallon buckets) of antifreeze, motor
oil, gear oil, hydraulic oil, rock drill oil, etc. This will be stored in the compressor
shed directly above the portal. Used oil will be hauled off site and properly
disposed of.
f Shop /Dry and Maintenance Shops
Currently there is a parts trailer, an office trailer, and a compressor shed located in
the mine yard area directly above the portal. These structures are in good repair
and there are no plans to add any additional structures.
g.
There is also a permanent shop /dry building (30 ft x 48 ft) located on the northern
reclaimed portion of the mine. This will be used to store and repair equipment if
necessary.
Roads and Associated Pads
A ramp was built to reach the portal from the upper shop /dry/maintenance shop
area. It is less than 200 ft. long and approximately 25 ft. wide.
Other surface disturbances include a ramp from the mine yard elevation (the top
of existing waste dump) to the elevation of the bench that the county road lies on
(i.e. area referred to as "waste dump and ore stockpile area" in Exhibit C, Figure
C3) and a haul road from the pad area to and along the east side of County Road
U -17, approximately 300 feet in total length, to the waste dump and ore stockpile
area. The pad will also be used as an ore stockpile area. The haul road on the
east side of the county road is 16 feet wide with an adjoining strip approximately
50 feet wide to allow for parking, etc.
Additional roads will be built to access ventilation shafts as needed (areas labeled
"Ventholes" in Exhibit C, Figure C1). These roads will be approximately 200-
300 feet long as pre- existing drill roads will be used as much as possible.
Roads and pads will be sprayed with magnesium chloride as needed to control for
fugitive dust. The magnesium chloride will not be stored onsite, but rather
brought in as needed.
D -6
