This gives an allowable rate of sewage application (Q - 51''r) of <br />1.25 gallons per square foot. The required area of the leach field serving <br />septic 'tanks #1 and #3 is <br />A = (858 gpd + 366 gpd) /1.25 gal /ft2 = 979.2 ft2 <br />Since the flows are only an estimate, it was agreed to increase the <br />Size of the field to allow only one gallon per square foot per day, or <br />1224 Square feet. Actual construction was 1365 square feet. The leach <br />field for septic tank #2 by similar calculation would have to be 197 square <br />feet.
