h. Utilities
Electrical power is provided by the San Miguel Power Association. Additional
lines that may be needed for future ventilation shafts will be their responsibility to
provide. (Cotter will have a signed agreement with SMPA prior to the
construction of any power lines near the affected area.)
Ventilation shafts will also be used as power drops as required (See Exhibit C for
locations.)
Due to the mine's proximity to Naturita, no overnight accommodations /showers
are necessary for employees. Bottled water will be brought in for drinking and a
surface water storage tank will be brought in for mining and placed either in the
mine yard, or on the ventilation pads, depending on logistics.
Portable toilets will be brought in for employees.
i. Ventilation Shafts
There were three ventholes associated with the previous mining operation. These
three ventholes were reclaimed when the previous mining operations were
reclaimed. Two of the previously reclaimed ventholes will be re- opened for the
proposed mining operations, and three new ventholes are proposed.
Construction of each will depend on the direction mining goes. It can be assumed
that within 5 years of full time mining, all ventilation shafts will have been
constructed. Each ventilation hole will require a casing and concrete pad
(approximately 9x9 feet and 2 -3 feet thick) to accommodate the fan. A water tank
and pipe into the mine may also be located within the same 0.25 acres permitted
for these ventholes. Further, each venthole will require additional power lines.
These ventilation holes will be utilized to provide adequate air quality for the
mine. Venthole locations are shown on the mining plan map found in Exhibit C,
Figure Cl.
