DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY
U.S.ARMY ENGINEER DISTRICT,SACRAMENTO
CORPS OF ENGINEERS
• 1325 J STREET SACRAMENT
REPLY TO O,CALIFORNIA 95814-2922
ATTENTION OF
May 18, 1993
Regulatory Section
Ms. Diane Delaney
Mid-Continent Resources
Post Office Box 1298
Glenwood Springs, Colorado 81602
Dear Ms. Delaney:
I am writing to you regarding your request for information
on reclamation work your firm will be conducting. The
reclamation work will be conducted at the Mid-Continent Mine site
in the Coal Creek basin located 4 miles west of Redstone,
Colorado.
You propose to remove rocks and gravels that have collected
along tributaries to Coal Creek during past flood events.
According to your letter, this debris flow from past flood events
is above the ordinary high water mark; and, that work you would
perform to obtain this material would not involve a discharge of
dredged or fill material below ordinary high water. A Department
of the Army permit will not be required for this work provided
you do not discharge material below the ordinary high water mark
or into adjacent or isolated wetlands. If you have any
additional questions, please contact Mr. Michael Claffey of this
office at (303) 243-1199.
Sinc rely,
hamp
Chief, Regulatory Section
