plant . Here the voltage is reduced from 69 KV to 23 KV for <br /> transmission on Company owned lines to the five mines and surface <br /> installations in Coal Basin (See Exhibit II-B-2 thru d) . The <br /> existing electric power transmission system throughout the Coal <br /> Basin mining complex is adequate for present and anticipated <br /> future needs . <br /> (8) Communication facilities <br /> The Mountain Bell telephone system provides <br /> the primary communication system between mines, the preparation <br /> plant, and support facilities . Mid-Continent operates and main- <br /> tains independent underground telephone networks at each of the <br /> mines for communications within the mines . The telephone system <br /> is supplemented by an industrial frequency radio network with <br /> base stations at each mine, the main mine office (District Office) <br /> and the Carbondale (Dock) offices . Also, approximately 30 mine <br /> vehicles utilized by supervisors, security and medical personnel <br /> have radios . <br /> (9) Support facilities <br /> Facilities for administration, supervision, <br /> security, supply and maintenance functions common to all mining <br /> operations are centrally located in Coal Basin near the preparation <br /> plant (Exhibit II-B-2d) . A District Mine Office supervises, <br /> directs and coordinates mining activities and, in addition, <br /> provides such administrative functions as maintaining records and <br /> time keeping. Other service groups and/or installations headquar- <br /> tered at or near the District Mine Office are a repair parts and <br /> 7 �/ <br />
