No end dumping or end pushing -- i.e. do not ever
push refuse over the 2 : 1 slopes of compacted waste.
Runoff from refuse must go into sediment ponds.
If you see water from a refuse pile that is not being
channeled into the ponds, report at once to the Environ-
mental Department.
Levelling and smoothing of refuse piles must be
done on the contour to prevent erosion gullies from
forming.
The preparation plant refuse pile must be inspected
and signed off by a registered professional engineer on
a quarterly basis.
Trommel screen rock (out of the mine bins) must
not be pushed over the side.
Instead, trommel screen rock should be picked up
and deposited in approved, designated trommel screen
rock dumps. These are:
1) No. 1 mine strip pit dump (south of #1
mine portal)
2) Tunnel rock/refuse fill area (directly
beside the rock tunnel)
3) Main prep. plant coal refuse pile (Sutey
refuse pile)
Trash must be placed in trash cans or at designated
sites.
Used tires, cables, converyor belts, broken machine
parts and other large scrap items will be hauled to
salvage or "bone yard" or disposed of in the dump.
Used oil, oily rags or other liquid wastes should
be placed in 55 gal. drums inside an oil containment
area.
If petroleum or other chemical wastes are spilled
on the ground, contain the spill with a dirt berm if
possible, and notify the Environmental Department. The
soil will have to be dug up and disposed in the dump.
