Confirmatory drilling was performed at Underground Working #4020. A drill pattern was set out by
an AMEC field representative. Forty -three holes were drilled encountering twenty -four voids. An
approximate total of 1,450 linear feet was drilled. As -built survey of the drill holes was performed
by Ames.
Confirmatory drilling was performed at Underground Working #4039. A drill pattern was set out by
an AMEC field representative. Twenty -nine holes were drilled encountering six voids. An
approximate total of 1,450 linear feet was drilled. As -built survey of the drill holes was performed
by Ames.
Confirmatory drilling was performed at Underground Working #4040. A drill pattern was set out by
an AMEC field representative. Thirty -two holes were drilled encountering four voids. An
approximate total of 1,600 lineal feet was drilled. As -built survey of the drill holes was performed
by Ames.
Grouting of missed (non -void) confirmatory drill holes was performed at Underground Workings
#4020, #4025, and #4028. A grout pump and laborers were used to place bentonite grout into the
,'miss" drill holes.
C) Remediation
Remediation of Underground Working #4000 continued throughout the week. A CAT 330
excavator was used to excavate the collapsed crown pillar from the working. After inspection of
the finished excavation, by an AMEC field representative, the blasted crown pillar was removed.
The working was backfilled with Coarse Shaft Backfill. The material was placed in small lifts and
bucket tamped until access for a CAT 563 vibratory smooth drum compactor was achieved. The
material was then placed in 18" to 24" lifts. Each lift was moisture conditioned using a tandem
axle water truck (when necessary) and compacted using a 10 -ton vibratory smooth drum
compactor, passing over the entire fill surface at least 4 times (method compaction technique was
applicable). Geogrid is scheduled to be placed next week. Remediation is being performed in
accordance with the AMEC UG #4000 remediation plan, revision 2.
Underground Working #4012 was investigated by an AMEC representative after topsoil was
removed from the area. Cut was performed in the area and it was found to be a shallow surface
working. The native material was found to be consistent and all signs of a significant working were
removed.
D) Underdrain
Construction of the Secondary underdrain under the Mill Site fill began using a CAT 330
excavator to excavate approximately 550' of a 3'x4' trench along the surveyed alignment. The
trench will be as -built surveyed next week. The 12 oz/yd 2geotextile, Underdrain Filter Material,
and Select Structural Fill will be placed next week also.
E) Structures
Relocation of the structure at Underground Working #4008 (Morning Glory) was finished by
Frontier Environmental Services Inc.
Ames removed all remaining debris from the structure at UG #4008 (Morning Glory) using a CAT
330 excavator. The material was hauled to a stockpile designated by CC &V.
MEW Weekly Report WE 02.11.2012
