In most areas, excluding flat areas were fills are started, the subgrade Is keyed Into as the fill
progress. This is due to steep slopes that are adjacent to most fill areas. In this instance, the
subgrade is inspected for organics and debris by an AMEC field representative prior to fill
placement (keying into the subgrade).
D) Structural Fill Placement
A CAT 993 front -end loader were used to load structural fill material from a borrow area
designated by CC &V. The material was loaded into CAT 40 -ton articulating and CAT 777 haul
trucks and hauled to fill areas. The fill excavation was assisted by various CAT dozers.
Structural fill was placed in the areas shown on Figure 1. Structural fill was placed in 18" to 24"
lifts using various CAT dozers, keying into existing slopes when necessary. Each lift was moisture
conditioned using a tandem axle water truck (when necessary) and compacted using a 10 -ton
vibratory smooth drum compactor, passing over the entire fill surface at least 4 times (method
compaction technique was applicable).
Subgrade temperatures were monitored by an AMEC field representative prior to fill placement.
Fill material was not placed until the entire fill area was at or above 32 °F. Fill temperatures were
then monitored every hour during ambient temperatures below 32 °F. No frozen material was
placed during the week.
E) Slope Contouring
No work performed during the week.
F) Soil Liner Fill (SLF)
No work performed during the week.
G) Drain Cover Fill (DCF)
Processing of DCF is paused temporarily. Relocation of the processing plant was performed
during the week.
Location
This Week
Cumulative
Comments
(tons)
(tons)
DCF Process
-
158,613
DCF processing is temporarily paused
Total
-
158,613
DCF processing is temporarily paused
II) Underground Mine Workings
A) Discovery
No new Underground Workings were encountered during the week.
B) Drilling
Confirmatory drilling was performed at Underground Working #4007. A drill pattern was set out by
an AMEC field representative. Twenty -nine holes were drilled encountering seven voids. An
approximate total of 2,150 linear feet was drilled. As -built survey of the drill holes was performed
by Ames.
MEW Weekly Report WE 02.11.2012
