The stockpiles were loaded into CAT 40 -ton
articulating haul trucks using a CAT 385 excavator, a John Deere 850 excavator. The topsoil was
placed in a stockpile area designated by CC &V. The stockpile area was maintained using various
CAT dozers and a CAT motor - grader.
S) Clear and Grub
Clear and grub activities were performed by Seedmasters for the Mill Site Earthworks project. A
John Deere 135 excavator, a Volvo 160 excavator, a John Deere 850 dozer, a CAT D -6 dozer,
and a skid steer loader were used to removing trees and shrubs from the area. These trees and
shrubs will be hauled to a chipping area designated by CC &V and are chipped and mixed into the
topsoil as it is placed.
Q Subgrade Preparation
Subgrade preparation was performed prior to structural fill placement in the areas shown on
Figure 1. Various CAT dozers were used to rip the existing surface to a depth of at least 6 inches.
Moisture conditioning of the subgrade was performed (when necessary) using a tandem axle
water truck. Compaction was performed using a 10 -ton vibratory smooth drum compactor passing
over the entire subgrade surface at least four times. The subgrade was inspected and approved
by an AMEC field representative, prior to fill placement.
MEW Weekly Report WE 02.11.2012
