feeding a continuous milk of lime slurry to the renovated mix tank in
the existing reagent building. A liquid flocculant system was also
installed with 6000 gallons of storage . The Polybiend flocculant
mixer/feeder is capable of feeding any concentrat:Dn of flocculant to
the mix tank on a continuous basis . Roughly one year of storage of
liquid reagent is available . A 16 inch inlet pipeline replaces the
previous two eight inch inlet lines to the mix tank.
All four settling ponds were cleaned during May 1987 and October
1987 . Roughly 3 . 5 million gallons of sludge/water was pumped from
the ponds with the Mud Cat Lagoon Dredge into 80 barrel ( 3000 gallon)
vacuum water trucks for haulage to Tailings Pond No. 3 and disposal .
At all times at least two feet of freeboard is available in each
settling pond.
A new 24 inch outlet spillway was installed in settling pond no.
4 -o replace the old decayed spillway. To prevent the discharge of
fluting solids , a 24 inch CMP T, oriented vertically, was added to
the spillway inlet.
Considerable upgrading to the snow shed has also been
accomplished including repair of siding and graveling the snow shed
floor. A second rock dump for waste material is being added
immediately to the south of the existing ore dump. This will
facilitate removal of waste rock and , low grade ore from the mine.
Activities planned for 1988 include sampling the newly deposited
waste to determine acid production potential, and continued
semi-annual settling pond clean-out. Also, a new 16 inch outlet
pipeline will be installed from the reagent building, running 100
feet to a manhole where connection to the twin 10 inch bypass lines
-3-
