Star Mine Operations, LLC Revenue Mine MCP Plan 2012 <br />3.4.4 Sodium Ethyl Xanthate — Powder <br />When handling sodium ethyl xanthate, the following PPE should be used: safety glasses, chemical safety <br />goggles or face shield, and protective gloves and clothing. A MSHA approved dust mask or respirator <br />should be worn if dusty conditions are unavoidable. It is recommended that adequate ventilation or a <br />local exhaust system be used. Wash thoroughly after handling. <br />In the event of a spill/release, eliminate all potential ignitions sources, cover spill with dry earth, sand or <br />other non - combustible material followed by a plastic sheet to minimize spreading. Collect all material <br />and place in a covered water - resistant container for disposal. Avoid contact with water. <br />3.4.5 Potassium Amyl Xanthate — Powder <br />When handling potassium amyl xanthate, the following PPE should be used: tight fitting chemical safety <br />goggles or face shield and protective gloves and clothing. A MSHA approved dust mask or respirator <br />should be worn if conditions are dusty or if fumes are present. It is recommended that adequate <br />ventilation or a local exhaust system be used. Wash thoroughly after handling. <br />In the event of a spill/release where level of exposure is unknown, a positive pressure, self - contained <br />respirator is required. The potassium amyl xanthate can be swept up into containers for appropriate <br />disposal. Water can be used to flush the spill area. If the spill is in excess of 100 pounds, the quantity is <br />considered reportable. Section 5 outlines the procedures for reporting. <br />3.4.6 Promoter Aero -3477 — Liquid <br />When handling Aero -3477, the following PPE should be used: tight fitting chemical safety goggles or <br />face shield and protective gloves and clothing. A MSHA approved dust mask or respirator should be <br />worn if conditions are dusty or if fumes are present. It is recommended that adequate ventilation or a <br />local exhaust system be used. Wash thoroughly after handling. <br />In the event of a spill/release where level of exposure is unknown, a positive pressure, self - contained <br />respirator is required. A two piece PVC suit with hood or PVC overalls with hood is recommended <br />during clean-up. The Aero -3477 can be covered with inert absorbent and swept up into containers for <br />appropriate disposal. Water can be used to flush the spill area. If the spill is in excess of 1,000 pounds, <br />it is considered reportable. Section 5 outlines the procedures for reporting. <br />3.4.7 Promoter Aerofloat -242 — Liquid <br />When handling Aerofloat -242, the following PPE should be used: tight fitting chemical safety goggles <br />or face shield and protective gloves and clothing. A MSHA approved dust mask or respirator should be <br />worn if conditions are dusty or if fumes are present. It is recommended that adequate ventilation or a <br />local exhaust system be used.
