A MSHA approved dust mask or respirator <br />should be worn if dusty conditions are unavoidable. It is recommended that adequate ventilation or a <br />local exhaust system be used. Wash thoroughly after handling. <br />In the event of a spill/release, eliminate all potential ignitions sources, cover spill with dry earth, sand or <br />other non - combustible material followed by a plastic sheet to minimize spreading. Collect all material <br />and place in a covered water - resistant container for disposal. Avoid contact with water. <br />3.4.5 Potassium Amyl Xanthate — Powder <br />When handling potassium amyl xanthate, the following PPE should be used: tight fitting chemical safety <br />goggles or face shield and protective gloves and clothing. A MSHA approved dust mask or respirator <br />should be worn if conditions are dusty or if fumes are present. It is recommended that adequate <br />ventilation or a local exhaust system be used. The potassium amyl xanthate can be swept up into containers for appropriate <br />disposal. Water can be used to flush the spill area.
