June 19, 2012 C-1981-012/New Elk Mine JHB <br /> <br /> <br />the east end of the pile, north of Culvert C13 was being dug out to allow for settling of sediment prior to flow <br />entering culvert C13. <br /> <br />The inspector took 10 slope readings using a hand held inclinometer (Suunto PM-5/360 PC ) and a hand held <br />rangefinder (Bushnell yardage pro).The approved construction technique and dimension of DWDA#2 are in <br />permit section 2.05 (p. 2.05-44) and figure 13. Measurements were taken from the top of the pile. Measurements <br />were collected from the east end of DWDA#2 alternating from the north to the south sides of the pile and moving <br />towards the west end of the pile. <br /> <br />site 1: eastern slope.- 8.5 degrees (15%). This slope is approved not to exceed 20%. the East slope of the pile is in <br />compliance with the plan. <br />site 2: East end of pile north slope:- 26 degrees (49%) Figure 13 shows this slope not to exceed 50%. This portion <br />of the slope is in compliance with the plan. <br />site 3:east end of pile, south slope: -26 degrees (49%). Figure 13 shows this slope not to exceed 50%. This <br />portion of the slope is in compliance with the plan. <br />Walked approximately 300 feet west to site 4 and 5. <br />Site 4: south of highway 12 culvert, north slope,- 24 degrees (44.5%). Figure 13 shows this slope not to exceed <br />50%. This portion of the slope is in compliance with the plan. <br />Site 5: south slope of pile, -24 degrees (44.5%). Figure 13 shows this slope not to exceed 50%. This portion of the <br />slope is in compliance with the plan. <br />Walked approximately 325 feet west to site 6 and 7. <br />Site 6: North slope, -23 degrees (42.5%). Figure 13 shows this slope not to exceed 50%. This portion of the slope <br />is in compliance with the plan. <br />Site 7: South side of pile, -25 degrees (46.5%), Figure 13 shows this slope not to exceed 50%. This portion of the <br />slope is in compliance with the plan. <br />Walked approximately 325 feet west to west end of pile. site 9 includes the ramp for truck access on to the pile. <br />Site 8: north slope of pile including truck ramp, -18.5 degrees to ramp, -29 degrees ramp to road. <br />Site 9: south slope at west end -23 degrees (43%) <br />Site 10. West slope of the west end of the pile, -23 degrees. (43%). <br />Width of pile at Site 8 to 9 =11yds (=33 ft.) This meets the requirement for a top width of 20 feet. <br /> <br />EXPLOSIVES Rule 4.08 <br /> Distance Prohibitions 4.08.4; Warnings 4.08.4; Control of Adverse Effects 4.08.4: <br />NECC maintains a locked gate at the explosives storage area. Weeds growing near the explosives bunkers should <br />be cut down.
