shall be a minimum of two feet by two feet (2' x 21 ) in size.
Lettering shall be a minimum of four inches (411) tall, and shall
read "ROAD CLOSED" .
Alternatively, CONTRACTOR may erect a locking steel gate at the
bottom of Road D. The gate should be of sufficient length to close
across the road. CONTRACTOR shall provide a lock and three (3)
keys to the PROJECT MANAGER.
The sign or gate shall be removed by CONTRACTOR at the time of
demobilization.
TASK 2 CULVERT REMOVAL
Approximately 9 road drainage culverts are located on Road D. All
of these culverts will be removed or decommissioned as part of the
reclamation process. Map 4, Hydrologic Structures, depicts the
locations of the culverts to be removed.
Generally, road drainage culverts are buried by one foot (11 ) or
less of ground cover at the inlet. The outlet burial depth is
variable, but averages five and one half feet (5 1/2 feet) . These
culverts are constructed of corrugated metal pipe (CMP) in almost
all instances. The following table lists the culverts to be
removed, diameter and approximate depth of burial at the inlet and
outlet.
Culvert No. Diameter Depth of Burial (feet, appox. )
(inches)* Inlet Outlet
D 1 24 1 4
D lA 24 0 4
D 2 36 1 2
D 3 24 1 6
D 3A 18 0 1
D 3N 18 0 5
D 4 18 0 3
D 4A 18 1 6
D 5 24 0 20
* Diameter obtained from permit document
The culverts listed in the above table shall be decommissioned or
removed as part of the reclamation process. All head walls, down
drains or other structures associated with the culverts, whether
metal or concrete, shall be removed during reclamation. Culverts
may either be decommissioned or removed from the site by CONTRACTOR
as described below.
Decommissioning. Each culvert will be excavated and exposed for a
minimum distance of ten feet (101 ) from the inlet side. The
8
