three (3) locally collected willow stakes against the down hill side of the log. Each stake must
be at least one and one half inches (1.5") in diameter, and must be at least two feet (2') in
length. The stakes will be placed equidistant from each other against the logs on the down hill
side, and will be pounded into the fill slope so that no more than six inches (6") of the stake is
exposed above ground surface.
Measurement and Payment
Payment for construction of the rolled dips shall be at the unit price bid in Item 4 of the Bid
Schedule per rolled dip constructed. Such payment shall be considered full compensation for
all labor, materials, equipment and all other items necessary and incidental to the construction
of the rolled dips.
TASK 5: LOW WATER CROSSING CONSTRUCTION
In a few locations, low water crossings will be constructed in order to provide access across
some streams after culverts are removed. Map 4, Hydrologic Structures, shows the
approximate locations of the low water crossings to be constructed. Low water crossings will be
constructed upstream of the currently existing culvert locations in order that the road gradient is
disrupted as little as possible. The low water crossings will essentially be access points
constructed across an armored section of a stream channel.
The stream banks at low water crossing locations will be excavated so that the access into and
out of the stream does not be steeper than 4 H : 1 V. The width of the crossing (perpendicular
to the flow of the stream) shall be twelve feet (12'). The material excavated from the stream
slopes shall removed in such a manner so that material is not pushed into the creeks. The
channel side cuts shall be excavated so that the cuts blend with the adjacent stream banks.
Four to Six inch (4" - 6") diameter durable rock rip rap shall be placed from the base of each
crossing to the crest of the ingress and egress to help protect the low water crossing from
erosion. Figure 2, Low Water Crossing, depicts the construction specifications.
For the Road C crossing of Dutch Creek, the 4 H : 1 V ingress and egress points will be
constructed in the stream banks. The base of Dutch Creek at the point of the Low Water
Crossing will not be altered.
The following table lists the anticipated number of low water crossings to be constructed on
each of the roads:
Road Number of low water crossings
B 3
C 6
D 7
Huntsman Ridge Road 2
Measurement and Payment
Payment will be made at the price bid per low water crossing installed as specified. Payment
will be made at the unit price established in Item 5 of the Bid Schedule. Such payment shall be
14
