considered full compensation for all labor, materials, equipment and all other items necessary
and incidental to the construction of the low water crossings.
TASK 6 REVEGETATION
All areas disturbed during reclamation work and any other areas specified in these Special
Conditions will be revegetated according to the Revegetation Specifications in the General Bid
Specifications Section 20.0, except as modified by these Special Conditions. All areas will be
seeded with the "Mine Site Seed Mixture", (Table 1).
Areas to be revegetated include the road surfaces, including the cuts and fills created during
completion of this Project, and adjacent Cut and Fill slopes identified by PROJECT MANAGER.
The adjacent Cut and Fill slopes were created during construction of the road network, and ,
except for these revegetation requirements, would not otherwise be impacted by this Project.
These slopes, which are generally located adjacent to the roads, exhibit little vegetative cover,
and therefore require revegetation.
In addition to the revegetation specifications outlined in Section 20.0, Revegetation, the
following requirements will be adhered to:
For Cut and Fill Slopes Adjacent to the Roads (Estimated 5 ACRES):
Seedbed preparation for adjacent cut and fill slopes which have been identified in the field by
PROJECT MANAGER will be accomplished in the following manner:
- A surface veneer of straw or hay mulch will be applied to the cut or fill slope
surface;
- The cut and fill slopes will be scarified using a Macleod Fire Rake/ Hoe. Gouges
will be created using the Macleod Fire Rake/ Hoe which measure ten inches
(10")from side to side, are approximately six inches (6")from front to back, and
are a minimum of four inches (4") deep at the back cut. The gouges will be
spaced no further than twelve inches distant from each other in any direction,
and will completely cover the cut and fill slopes identified for these activities. It is
necessary to start at the top of the cut and fill slopes, and work down the slopes
when constructing the gouges. PROJECT MANAGER will delineate the
boundaries of each cut and fill slope before seedbed preparation begins.
Following construction of the gouges, access to these slopes will be limited to the
sides or margins of each slope.
Broadcast application of seed and fertilizer and hand mulching is required. In
order to protect the gouges from being filled with dirt, application of seed and
fertilizer should be accomplished as gouge construction proceeds. Mulch will be
applied from the crest of the cuts and fills following gouge construction and
seeding and fertilization.
15
