Following completion of all construction activities requiring access by vehicular traffic, a large
berm shall be constructed at the junction of the Huntsman Ridge Road with the Mine 4 Bench.
PROJECT MANGER will mark the location of the berm in the field. The minimum dimensions of
the berm will be five feet (5) in height, one foot (1') wide at the crest, twenty one feet (21') wide
at the base, and approximately twenty feet (20') long (estimated width of the road); side slopes
will be no steeper than 2.5 H : 1 V.
All Road Segments
Ripping must occur immediately prior to initiating revegetation procedures. All ripped road
segments must be protected from vehicular traffic. PROJECT MANAGER will lock the site
access gates. However, should vehicles travel across ripped roadways, CONTRACTOR may
be directed to re-rip the affected road(s).
In order to protect the ripped road segments from compaction, CONTRACTOR will place bales
to be used for mulch along the road margins prior to ripping. Following ripping, only ONE trip
with a three quarter (3/4) ton or lighter pick up truck and single axle trailer will be permitted
across the reclaimed road segment. Should this crossing result in rut development or
compaction which, in the opinion of the PROJECT MANAGER, is excessive, CONTRACTOR
shall re-rip, re-seed and re-mulch the segment(s) of concern. Additional access shall only be by
low ground pressure all terrain vehicle.
Mine 1 /2 Training Center
Map 4, Hydrologic Structures, depicts the location of the Mine 1 /2 Training Center. Earthen
materials have been end-dumped near the eastern margin of this area. These materials will be
graded out across this approximately three quarter(3/4) acre area. Following placement of
these materials, topsoil may be applied to the ground surface. Up to two hundred cubic yards
(200 yd3) of topsoil materials, located within six hundred feet (600 ft.) of the area, will be evenly
distributed across the area.
Following distribution of the earthen materials and topsoil, the area will be mulched and scarified
as follows:
The excavated embankment cut surface shall be severely roughened following completion of the
earth work to the specifications using a trackhoe or similar piece of equipment in the following
manner:
- Two (2) tons of certified weed free mulch shall be applied to the surface. Mulch shall
be provided by CONTRACTOR, and shall conform to Section 20.2 of the Revegetation
Specifications, attached. All mulch shall be certified as noxious weed free or noxious
weed seed free by any authorized State or County Officer. Documentation of
certification shall be provided to the PROJECT MANAGER prior to application of
mulch. The mulch shall be evenly distributed over the surface. Surface roughening will
occur simultaneously with distribution of the weed free mulch in order to prevent loss of
the mulch due to wind.
- Roughening, or scarification of the surface by using a trackhoe bucket or similar
piece of equipment to create numerous gouges in the cut slope will follow mulching.
Gouge or pull the surface and mulch toward the machine in a manner such that no
less than twelve inches (12") of vertical relief is created. These gouges shall be
sufficiently close so that no more than eighteen inches (18") exists between the crest
of one gouge and the crest of an adjacent gouge, in any direction.
12
