Trash and debris which may be encountered in the vicinity of the Project Area shall be removed
from the site by CONTRACTOR. Some amount of trash and debris may be encountered during
grading and ripping operations. All trash and debris shall be disposed of in a properly licensed
land fill facility, or may be salvaged by CONTRACTOR. Prior to removal from the site,
PROJECT MANAGER and CONTRACTOR may mutually agree upon a temporary site to store
trash and debris.
A single or double ditch is located on the inside portion of most roads. These ditches carried
water to the culverts which were eliminated in Task 2, Culvert Removal. In some locations, a
berm is also present at the outside portion of the roads. These berms will be eliminated during
Task 3, Road Grading.
The estimated lengths of the roads to be reclaimed are:
Road B 3,700 Feet
Road C 15,800 Feet
Road D 9,360 Feet
Huntsman Ridge Road 8,000 Feet
Cross Sections B-1 through C-30 depict the slope of the roads. The slope is defined as the
angle of the roads as measured perpendicular to the road running surface. The location of each
cross section is depicted on Map 4, Hydrologic Structures.
Road grading will be accomplished in this task by reversing the current road slope so that a
minimum slope of seven percent (7%) to the outside road margin is achieved. Grading shall be
conducted so that when completed the seven percent (7%) slope to the outside margin is
uniform from the top of the fill at the inside margin to the crest of the outside margin of the road.
Material to complete the road grading and ditch elimination work shall be obtained primarily from
the outside edge of the road, and from the crown of the road, where one may exist. Where
material is excavated from the outside edge of the road, no cut slope shall be steeper than 3 H
1 V. All cuts shall be uniformly excavated so that the down slope extent of excavation is
relatively uniform in elevation. The beginning and end of all cut areas shall be graded to blend
with adjacent un-excavated slopes. Sharp breaks in gradient between the road surface and the
cut slope shall not be permitted. Excavation shall occur so that the outside road surface blends
into the cut slope.
All road surfaces shall be ripped to a minimum depth of fifteen inches (15") on no greater than
eighteen inch (18") centers. Where bedrock outcrops occur, ripping to a shallower depth will be
allowed. In all instances, ripping shall be accomplished sub-parallel to the road running surface.
Ripping shall begin along the outside margin of the graded road surfaces, and proceed toward
the inside margin at a thirty degree (300)to forty five degree (450) angle. The entire width of the
graded road from outside margin to the inside margin of the road benches will be ripped.
Huntsman Ridge Road
No grading of the Huntsman Ridge Road will occur. Following culvert removal, and in
conjunction with rolled dip and low water crossing construction, the road will be ripped. Ripping
will occur parallel to the road running surface. The road surface shall be ripped to a minimum
depth of fifteen inches (15") on no greater than eighteen inch (18") centers. Where bedrock
outcrops occur, ripping to a shallower depth will be allowed.
11
