which result from the extraction process shall be backfilled to the original ground surface
elevation. The backfill will be compacted in one foot (1') lifts using the bucket of a backhoe/
loader or trackhoe until refusal.
The excavated culverts, headwalls, spillways and/or similar materials shall be removed from
the site, to be disposed of in a properly licensed land fill facility. Alternatively, CONTRACTOR
may keep the culverts for salvage. Prior to removal from the site, PROJECT MANAGER and
CONTRACTOR may mutually agree upon a temporary site to store the excavated culverts and
related scrap materials.
It is possible that possibly one additional, previously unknown buried culvert per road segment,
may be exposed during road grading operations. If this occurs, the newly found culvert(s) shall
be excavated and removed from the site as will occur with the known culverts. The excavation
shall be backfilled and compacted as were the known culvert excavations.
The following table lists the Road B, C, D culverts to be removed, diameter and approximate
depth of burial at the inlet and outlet.
Culvert No. Diameter Depth of Inlet Depth of Outlet
(inches)* Burial (approx.)
