Maps
Attached to this Invitation to Bid are copies of Maps 4 and 5 reproduced on legal size paper.
Due to the cost of reproducing full size maps, the reduced size maps are included for your
reference. Full size maps (approximately 24" x 30") will be provided to those contractors who
attend the pre-bid meeting scheduled for 20 June, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. See Map 2, Pre-Bid
Meeting Location.
Map 4, Hydrologic Structures, depicts the roads to be reclaimed and pertinent hydrologic
structures, including existing culvert locations, locations of low water crossings to be
constructed and locations of rolled dips to be constructed.
Map 5, Earth Work, depicts the roads to be reclaimed and the locations where cross sections
were measured, areas to be ripped and not ripped, areas to be backfilled to 0% slope and areas
to be backfilled to 1% slope.
TASK 1 MOBILIZATION AND DEMOBILIZATION
This Task shall comply with Specification 1.0, Mobilization / Demobilization, of the Colorado
Inactive Mine Reclamation Program General Bid Specifications, 1996.
Site Clean Up
Miscellaneous metallic and non-metallic debris may be encountered throughout the Project
Area. This material will be removed from the site by CONTRACTOR. Pipe, scrap metal, steel,
road guard rail remnants and miscellaneous debris, primarily situated on the ground surface,
may be present. Plastic, metallic and similar materials, when encountered, must be removed
from the site by CONTRACTOR. Wood materials may be cut into small pieces (not to exceed
twenty four inches [24"] in length and eight inches [8"] in diameter), and distributed on the
revegetated road surfaces in a random pattern. All non-wood debris and scrap materials
encountered within the Project Area must be properly disposed of. Disposal may occur at an
appropriately licensed land fill, or CONTRACTOR may salvage such materials.
Measurement and Payment
There will be no measurement for payment. Payment for this task will be reflected in a lump
sum bid under Item 1 on the Bid Schedule. This lump sum bid will cover all costs for
Mobilization and Demobilization. Payment shall be made as described in General Bid
Specifications 1996, Specification 1.0, Mobilization / Demobilization.
TASK 2 CULVERT REMOVAL
Roads B, C, D
Approximately twenty (20) road drainage culverts are located on the roads scheduled for
reclamation during this project. Map 4, Hydrologic Structures, depicts the locations of the
culverts to be removed.
Generally, road drainage culverts are buried by three feet (3') or less of ground cover at the
inlet. These culverts are constructed of corrugated metal pipe (CMP) in almost all instances.
The culverts listed in the following table shall be decommissioned as part of the reclamation
process. Any head walls, down drains or other structures associated with the culverts shall be
removed during reclamation. The entire culvert will be excavated and removed. The trenches
8
