twenty two (22) acres, which includes the pond access roads, pond margins and the excavated <br /> pond spillways and embankments. <br /> Broadcast application of seed and fertilizer and hand mulching is required. <br /> Seed must be broadcast using a hand held broadcast seed applicator. <br /> Measurement and Payment <br /> Measurement and payment for this Task will be as per Revegetation Specification 20.0. <br /> Revegetated areas will be measured to the nearest 0.1 acre and paid at the unit price bid on the <br /> Bid Schedule Item 6. The price bid shall include all costs for labor, materials, equipment and all <br /> other items necessary for revegetation as described in these specifications, including work at <br /> the pond margins and on the pond access roads. Payment for this task will be made only for <br /> the unit price shown under Item 6 of the Bid Schedule. Payment shall be as this task is <br /> completed and approved by the PROJECT MANAGER. <br /> TASK 7 TREE PLANTING <br /> Willow plantings will occur around the margins of the ponds as designated by the PROJECT <br /> MANAGER. Cuttings may be obtained locally from property managed by the U. S. Forest <br /> Service. A written statement of approval for the cutting of willow sprigs from Forest Service <br /> managed lands must be provided to the PROJECT MANAGER prior to initiating this task. The <br /> CONTRACTOR is encouraged to make necessary arrangements with the Forest Service well in <br /> advance of the scheduled planting in order to avoid problems in obtaining the cuttings. If they a <br /> Forest Service is unable to provide the cuttings, the CONTRACTOR will obtain commercially <br /> available willows. The PROJECT MANAGER must approve of the species proposed for use /11 <br /> prior to the CONTRACTOR ordering the willows. Failure to obtain this approval may result in <br /> rejection of the plants. <br /> Individual willow cuttings will be no less than twelve inches (12") in length, and no less than one <br /> quarter of an inch (1/4") in diameter. Cuttings must be obtai d no earlier than thirty six hours__ <br /> prior to planting. Cuttings will be soaked in water containing 6olvacrvIamide for at•east twenty <br /> four (24) hours prior to planting. When planting, cuttings will be stripped of stems. Cuttings and <br /> hydrated polyacrylamide will be placed into the soils at or near tfie pond margins, so that the <br /> willows are oriented vertically, with only three to four inches (3"—4") of the cutting protruding <br /> from the ground surface. In order to achieve the required amount of burial it may be necessary <br /> to excavate a hole for each cutting using a shovel. The hole will be backfilled once the cutting is <br /> in place. The willows will be planted on three foot (3') centers. It is estimated that at each pond <br /> two hundred lineal feet (200') of pond shoreline will be planted with willow cuttings. <br /> Measurement and Payment <br /> Areas planted with willow cuttings will be measured to the nearest linear foot. Measurement for <br /> payment will consist of physically measuring the length of each willow planting area. Payment <br /> for this task will be paid for at prices established in Item 7 of the Bid Schedule per linear foot at <br /> each willow planting area. Such payment shall be considered full compensation for all labor, <br /> materials, equipment and all other items necessary and incidental to obtaining, soaking and <br /> planting of willow cuttings as directed and described in the specifications.
