CONTRACTOR will be used on an "on call" basis and must be available at the site
with the specified equipment by 9:00 a.m. the morning following notification by the
PROJECT MANAGER.
Although machine time is NOT guaranteed, it is estimated that the dozer and
backhoe/loader may be used for up to 32 hours each. Depending upon site conditions,
additional utilization of any one piece of equipment may be required.
Sediment Control
Sediment control measures may be installed at some areas. CONTRACTOR will
supply prefabricated silt fence with posts (Mirafi Prefabricated Silt Fence with Posts
having a 2-foot width and 3 feet between posts, or equivalent), or straw bales and
rebar, as specified by PROJECT MANAGER. Silt fence, when used, shall be installed
as per Figure 2, Typical Silt Fence Installation, attached. Straw bales, when used,
shall be placed flat on the ground surface. Dirt shall be shoveled in front of the bales in
order that water cannot seep under or between bales. Two (2), four feet (4') lengths of
three eighths inch (3/8") diameter rebar shall be driven through each bale. One length
of rebar will be installed eight inches (8") from each end of a bale. The rebar shall be
driven through the bales and into the ground so that no more than four inches (4") of
rebar is exposed above the bale. Sediment control measures shall be placed in
locations designated by the PROJECT MANAGER. Use of these materials is NOT
guaranteed.
Rip Rap Materials
Durable rock rip rap materials may be utilized to protect stream banks, if needed.
Acceptable rip rap materials will consist of angular rock composed of granitic or
metamorphosed materials. Sandstone and shale materials are not acceptable. Rip rap
materials will be sized so that the narrowest dimension of any one rock is no less than
twenty four inches (24"). PROJECT MANAGER may reject any rock which is
undersized, rounded or composed of unacceptable materials. CONTRACTOR may be
directed to obtain, deliver and place rip rap materials if the need arises. Use of these
materials is NOT guaranteed.
c:lsgrlbidsbbspg00
6
