Materials (Bid Schedule Items 4, 5, 6) shall include the cost of mobilizing labor and materials for <br /> the quantities indicated in the Bid Schedule. Any materials used beyond that indicated in the Bid <br /> Schedule during a single mobilization event will be paid at the rate bid for additional materials <br /> (Bid Schedule Items 4a, 5a, 6a). <br /> CONTRACTOR will be used on an "on call" basis, and must be available at the site with the <br /> specified equipment by 9:00 a.m. the morning following notification by the PROJECT <br /> MANAGER. <br /> Although machine time is NOT guaranteed, it is estimated that the dozer and backhoe/loader <br /> may be used for up to 32 hours each. Depending upon site conditions, additional utilization of <br /> any one piece of equipment may be required. <br /> Sediment Control <br /> Sediment control measures may be installed at some areas. CONTRACTOR will supply <br /> prefabricated silt fence with posts (Mirafi Prefabricated Silt Fence with Posts having a 2-foot <br /> width and 3 feet between posts, or equivalent), or straw bales and rebar, as specified by <br /> PROJECT MANAGER. Silt fence, when used, shall be installed as per Figure 2, Typical Silt <br /> Fence Installation, attached. Straw bales, when used, shall be placed flat on the ground surface. <br /> Dirt shall be shoveled in front of the bales in order that water cannot seep under or between <br /> bales. Two (2), four foot (4') lengths of three-eighths inch (3/8") diameter rebar shall be driven <br /> through each bale. One length of rebar will be installed eight inches (8") from each end of a bale. <br /> The rebar shall be driven through the bales and into the ground so that no more than four inches <br /> (4") of rebar is exposed above the bale. Sediment control measures shall be placed in locations <br /> designated by the PROJECT MANAGER. Use of these materials is NOT guaranteed. <br /> Rip Rap Materials <br /> Durable rock rip rap materials may be utilized to protect stream banks, if needed. Acceptable rip <br /> rap materials will consist of angular rock composed of granitic or metamorphosed materials. <br /> Sandstone and shale materials are not acceptable. Rip rap materials will be sized so that the <br /> narrowest dimension of any one rock is no less than twenty four inches (24"). PROJECT <br /> MANAGER may reject any rock which is undersized, rounded or composed of unacceptable <br /> materials. CONTRACTOR may be directed to obtain, deliver and place rip rap materials if the <br /> need arises. Use of these materials is NOT guaranteed. <br /> 4 <br />
