Application Areas <br />Please refer to the attached map for the areas to be treated. The Map depicts the approximate <br />location of each treatment area and the time of application (ie: Spring, Fall or both). <br />Spring Application <br />CONTRACTOR shall apply the specified chemical herbicide treatment for the purpose of <br />controlling noxious weed infestations at the portions of the Coal Basin Mine listed below in the <br />late Spring / early Summer. The species of noxious weeds to be treated include Plumeless <br />thistle (Carduus acanthoides), Canada thistle (Cirsium arvense), Oxeye daisy (chrysantheum <br />leucanthemum) and Houndstongue (Cynoglossum officinale). Other noxious weed species may <br />be encountered, and shall be treated when observed. <br />The areas to be treated in the late Spring / early Summer application are: <br />- The Old Refuse Pile <br />- The Huntsman Project Area <br />- The Bear Creek Project Area <br />- The area south and west of the Sutey Refuse Pile Access Road <br />- The Sutey Refuse Pile Topsoil Stockpile <br />- The area adjacent to Road A from the main entry gate to the gate immediately beyond the <br />Lamphouse. <br />Fall Application <br />CONTRACTOR shall apply the specified chemical herbicide treatment for the purpose of <br />controlling noxious weed infestations at the portions of the Coal Basin Mine listed below in the <br />early Fall. The Fall application will consist of spot spraying the areas listed below in order to <br />control Canada thistle (Cirsium arvense). <br />- The Old Refuse Pile <br />- The Huntsman Project Area <br />- The Bear Creek Project Area <br />- The Sutey Refuse Pile Topsoil Stockpile <br />- The Sutey Refuse Disposal Area <br />- The Sutey triangle area <br />Application Rates, CONTRACTOR Responsibilities <br />Tordon will be applied at an application rate of two (2) quarts per acre. Surfactant shall be <br />added to the application as specified by labeling. Blue dye shall be used throughout the <br />application process. <br />CONTRACTOR will be responsible for properly securing chemicals until Project completion. <br />CONTRACTOR shall apply the herbicides at the rate of application stated above. <br />CONTRACTOR shall provide all equipment, chemicals and labor and materials necessary to <br />accomplish application throughout the Project Area. <br />Note that a clean water source may not be readily available at the mine site. Potable water may <br />be available in Redstone. <br />Treatment using conventional application methods, such as spraying from truck, all terrain <br />vehicle or back pack mounted equipment is acceptable, given the limitations of access and <br />reclaimed lands. <br />Application shall NOT occur within six (6) hours of predicted significant rain or snow fall. <br />Application shall not occur if wind speeds at the application area exceed fifteen (15) miles per <br />4 <br />
