No doubt the confusion as to number of ponds (i.e. 30 versus 36) arises because there are 30 extant ponds if the loadout is included in the count, there are 36 ponds if the count is confined to Coal Basin and includes the ponds permitted but not yet built. Also, there is potential for further confusion in that another pond has been included in the long-range planning for expansion of the Sutey site, and is indicated in the designs, but has not been permitted. One pond, known as the Savage Pond, was removed (TR-3 , 1986) . Catchment basins are located at various locations, and have been referred to previously as b.a.t. ponds. In response to the Division's question as to the number of ponds indicated within the text of the permit, versus the number of ponds shown on the various maps, Mid-Continent reviewed the maps and noted the following, which accounts for the discrepancy: Pond 009-B, formerly 007 Maps II-B-7 Att. 6-5, 6-12 and 6-17 all refer to the same pond, which is the upper bathhouse pond found at the old refuse pile. II-B-7 Att. 6-5 is the correct map. II-B-7 Att. 6-12 is from a survey done 9/2/82 , and has a notation that the pond was later enlarged. However, to lessen confusion, the map has been crossed off and labeled "superseded. " II-B-7 Att. 6-17 was apparently mis-labeled at the time the surveys were done, and so has been crossed off and marked "superseded. " 008 - Bus Garage Ponds Map II-B-7 Att. 6-14 was prepared 9/8/82 , and includes a survey of pond 008A, which was subsequently enlarged. A notation is attached indicating the pond was later enlarged. However, to prevent further confusion, the map has been crossed off and labeled "superseded. " Map II-B-7 Att. 6-13 , prepared in 1984 , shows the enlarged pond 008 A. 010 - Warehouse Pond Map II-B-7 Att. 6-17 indicated both a "Warehouse Pond All and a "Warehouse Pond B.
