However, this did not prove effective.
We have also contacted the consultant in hopes that they could
supply us with better quality copies. However, thus far none have
been forthcoming. If Mid-Continent is able to secure the originals
from the consultant, and to improve the copy quality, then
replacement pages will be submitted.
Calculations done by Geo-Hydro for the the pond series at outfall
008 (known as the redwood tank or bus garage ponds) and the pond at
outfall 020 (known as the picnic pond) have been included and
should be added to Vol . 3 , App. II-B-7 Att. 3 pages 87-151 . These
are found in this submission at Attachment III-4-A.
In addition, Mid-Continent noted that the road section of the
original Fleming Report, which contained calculations for the
culverts on the haul roads (this was later superseded by a Morrison
Knudsen study) had been removed from the permit. However, it does
seem that the Fleming study provides a useful reference, and so we
propose to place the applicable section in Vol . III App. II-B-7
Att. 2 (the section on roads) as pages 35-47. This is contained in
Attachment III-4-A.
An update of the NPDES/ODES permit discharge points has been
prepared to reflect changes, which include inactivated points, a
new discharge point (028) and discharge points which are not found
at sediment pond outlets. A replacement page to the listing of
Vol . 7, Ch. IV, page 22 has been prepared, and has been inserted at
Attachment III-4-A.
Ditch designs for the rock tunnel were located which were an update
of the designs presently in the permit. These should thus go into
the permit at Vol . 2 , App. II-B-3 , replace pages 90-93 , add 93 .1 ,
and replace page 99 . These are found in this submission at
Attachment III-4-A.
4 (b) . Re. Number of Sediment Ponds.
The sediment ponds at the Coal Basin mine site are listed on the
attached tables, which replace Vol. 1 Chapter II, pages 28 and 30,
and Vol. 7 Chapter IV, page 19. There are 29 ponds at the Coal
Basin Mine site, and one (1) pond at the loadout facility, for a
total of 30 in the permit area.
In addition, there are ponds which have been given permit approval ,
but which have not been constructed at the Rock Tunnel area (2
ponds) ; and the No. 4 Mine Portal (4 ponds) ; and the Sutey site (1
pond) .
Mid-Continent Resources
Mid-Term Review
Responses - 6/91 3
