Training sessions will be held for Mid-Continent personnel at the time of plant installation, and a follow-up refresher session by H2O will be scheduled approximately 30 days after the plant goes on-line. Plant Operator(s) The preparation plant operates three shifts per day, five days per week. Plant superintendent Leif Erickson is responsible for the preparation plant, and will be responsible for proper functioning and maintenance of the water treatment plant. He supervises plant operators. There is a plant foreman or designated person in charge of every shift. As part of his regular duties, the plant foreman or person in charge makes a walk-through inspection of the plant, checking pumps, pipes, pressure differentials, and scheduling necessary maintenance. He will have the additional duty of making a walk-through inspection of the water treatment plant, checking for proper function of the coarse classifier, thicker, clarifier, pumps and filters. He will check the controls, monitor flocculation, and visually inspect overflow(s) for turbidity. He will supervise mixing and addition of flocculant and necessary maintenance or other work done to the system. In the event of problems with the system, equipment malfunction or necessary maintenance, it is the responsibility of the plant foreman or person in charge to determine the appropriate course of action and supervise its implementation. The duties of the plant lab technician include quality analysis and in-plant sampling of coal during the washing process. The lab technician works one shift per day, five days per week. The duties of the lab technician will be expanded to include water monitoring during the treatment process, and monitoring of the plant effluent. Testing with the turbidimeter will ordinarily be carried out by the plant lab technician, although plant foremen will be trained in the use of the hand-held turbidimeter. Testing 6
