of interest about this stabilization project is that the USFS has
been saying that this portion of Dutch Creek will need to be re-
routed back into the floodplain upon completion of final
reclamation. Their contention is that MCR re-routed Dutch Creek to
the south in order to construct facilities. Based on review of old
aerial photos, the channel has been in this location at least since
1953. These same photos also show that the cut bank has been in
place since at least 1973. So, although this minor stabilization
work is definitely not the final solution, any attempt to re-locate
the channel should be evaluated very carefully.
- Preliminary grading work has been completed on the raw coal
stockpile area
- Numerous maintenance activities have been performed, some
voluntary and some as a result of violation abatements. These
include pond cleaning, ditch maintenance, road maintenance, etc. .
