TASK 1 MOBILIZATION AND DEMOBILIZATION
This task shall comply with specification 1.0, Mobilization/Demobilization, attached.
Measurement and Payment
There will be no measurement for payment. Payment for this task will be reflected in a lump sum
bid under Item 1 on the Bid Schedule. This lump sum bid will cover all costs for Mobilization and
Demobilization. Payment shall be made as described in specification 1.0,
Mobilization/Demobilization, attached.
TASK 2 EARTH WORK
CONTRACTOR, in conjunction with PROJECT MANAGER will stake the boundaries of
the area of the Old Refuse Pile to be affected by this project. This will occur prior to initiating
any work within the Project area.
The earth work portion of this project consists of reducing the north slope of the Old Refuse
Pile to the design specification of 2H:1V. Material excavated from the Pile will be transported
to the designated disposal site. Map 4, Old Refuse Pile, depicts the current topography of the
facility, locations of Cross Sections A through H and outlines the portion of the facility which
is subject to this Project. Map 3, Project Area, depicts the location where the excavated
materials will be placed, and the location of the topsoil stock pile from which the topsoil will
be derived. Map 5, Reclaimed Topography, depicts the post construction contours of the Old
Refuse Pile, and the locations of Cross Sections AR through HR. Map 6, Disposal Area
Topography, depicts the idealized contours of the disposal area near the former location of the
Wash Plant upon completion of the Project..
In its present condition, the slopes subject to this project vary in gradient from slightly steeper
than 1.5H:1V to just less than 2H:1V, with the majority of the slope averaging about 1.75H :
1V. Cross Sections A through H depict the current topography. Upon completion of the
project, the gradient of the north slope of the Old Refuse Pile will average 2H:1V. The
gradient at any one location may vary between 1.9H:1V and 2.1H:1V, as depicted on Cross
Sections AR through HR. A variance in slope gradient which results in any one cross
sectional slope being steeper than 1.9H:1V is not permitted. An existing roadway located near
the top of the slope to be cut must be maintained throughout the project at a minimum width of
twelve feet (12') .
North Slope Old Refuse Pile Cut and Fill
In some portions of the project area topsoil has been spread over slopes which are at a gradient
of 2H:1V. The soil in these less steep locations will be salvaged by CONTRACTOR, and
stockpiled at the location noted on Map 3, Project Area.
It is estimated that cubic yards of coal refuse material will be excavated from the Old
Refuse Pile in order to achieve the specified 2H:1V post construction slope.
