Chapter II
9. U11DERGROUND DEVELOPI= WASTE
a. Rock Disposal Area.
Material excavated in the construction of the rock tunnel has been
placed in the designated tunnel fill area. Mid-Continent estimates
that approximately 365,000 cu. yds. of material has been placed in
this facility. The approved waste design for this facility has a
capacity of 1. 08 million cu. yds. , so there is substantial excess
capacity in the facility.
Mid-Continent anticipates that material excavated in further
underground development work on the tunnel and on the raw coal
storage facility will be placed on the approved tunnel waste
disposal area until the facility reaches capacity.
In construction of the current pile, the tunnel spoil material was
spread on the waste pile so as to maintain a perimeter slope at the
ratio of 2h:ly or less.
w --
44(a) Revised 12/91
TR-24
