The material, when mixed into a liquid slurry, shall pass a fre:>liquid quality <br /> control test: Liquids separate from fibrous solids, no greater than one inch (1") <br /> in one (1) minute, as measured on a standard test board; <br /> The matrix, when dry, shall not dissolve or disperse upon rewetting; <br /> The matrix, when dry, shall have a minimum thickness of 1/8", and a maximum <br /> thickness of 1/4"; <br /> - The matrix shall have no holes >1 mm in size; <br /> The matrix shall have no gaps between the product and the sail; <br /> - The matrix shall have a minimum water holding capacity of approximately ten <br /> times its dry weight; <br /> - The matrix shall have no germination or growth inhibiting components and <br /> shall not form a crust which inhibits water infiltration; <br /> - The matrix shall be comprised of materials which are 100% biodegradable and <br /> non-toxic to plant, animal and aquatic species. <br /> The BFM shall be supplied and installed by CONTRACTOR according to <br /> manufactures specifications, and in accordance with the specified mixing <br /> procedures. CONTRACTOR shall demonstrate "free liquid" test to PROJECT <br /> MANAGER upon request. <br /> The BFM will be spray applied,or aerially applied at a rate of 3,500 pounds per acre. <br /> The BFM shall be applied in successive layers until the required co ?rage is <br /> achieved, and until the required 100% coverage of all exposed soil is attained. The <br /> BFM shall not be applied to standing water nor within 48 hours of predicted rain or <br /> snow, nor immediately after a,rain or snow event. <br /> CONTRACTOR shall provide OROJECT MANAGER with appropriate documentation <br /> of laboratory and other testing,to ensure the product complies with the specifications <br /> outlined in this Invitation for Bid. Such documentation, and a material sample, shall <br /> be provided to PROJECT MANAGER no later than seven (7) days prior to initiating <br /> application operations. <br /> If application consistent with manufacturers specifications can be demonstrated, <br /> aerial application of the BFM may be permitted. Aerial application of the BFM may be <br /> approved by the PROJECT MANAGER only after a test application of the BFM on a <br /> selected slope is accomplished. In order to gain approval, application of the BFM <br /> from the air must be no less effective in coverage than that coverage which is <br /> obtained by application from a hydro mulch unit. <br /> 13 <br />
