slope treated with bonded fiber matrix. A separate time line is
not needed for this task.
Hydroseed. Hydroseeding should follow the imprinter by two to
three days. Therefore, hydroseeding should begin on September 15,
1997. This concept is consistent with our conversation of August
26. As we discussed at that time, there is a concern that the
depressions created by the imprinter could fail before seed is
planted should there be a lag time between construction of the
depressions and seeding.
Bonded Fiber Matrix. In order to accomplish the BFM application,
given the application constraints described in the Bid, and given
the realities of fall weather patterns at Coal Basin, I would
suggest that the BFM application begin no later than immediately
following the completion of the hydroseeding. The best possible
circumstance, of course, is to have the BFM application lag behind
the hydroseed application at any given area by one to two days.
Straw Mulch. Straw mulch must be applied and tacked within 24
hours of applying the seed to the areas which have been treated
with the imprinter. Please see Section 20. 3 (Revegetation)
attached to the Invitation for Bid.
Repair of Previously Reclaimed Areas. This component should be
added to the schedule (see Task 3 of the Invitation for Bid) .
Tree and Shrub Planting. This component should be added to the
schedule (see Task 6 of the Invitation for Bid) .
In summary, I think that it is critical that completion of multiple
tasks simultaneously, or at the least immediately following
completion of one task with the initiation of a second is critical
if the project is to be completed in 1997. In order to avoid
winter suspension or critical weather delays, I suggest that
revision of the schedule per the above comments be initiated.
Please provide a revised schedule to me prior to mobilizing to the
site.
Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or comments.
Sincerely,
eve enner
Project Manger
CC: David Bucknam
Jim McArdle
C:\wp51\midc\bids\m4reveg.sch
