FOR SLOPES FLATTER THAN 3H:1V QEstimated 17 ACRES):
- It is preferred that these areas be drill seeded using a grassland drill. See Section 20.3
(Drill Seeding) of the Revegetation Specifications, attached. All seed drilling and
crimping operations will be operated on contour. Broadcast application of seed may be
permissible with prior approval of the PROJECT MANAGER. Seed application rate will
be double the drill seed application rate (Table 1, Mine Site Seed Mixture) for broadcast
seeding applications.
Measurement and Payment
Measurement and payment for this Task will be as per Revegetation Specification 20.0. Revegetated
areas will be measured to the nearest 0.1 acre and paid at the unit price bid on the Bid Schedule Item
10. The price bid shall include all costs for labor, materials, equipment and all other items necessary for
revegetation as described in these specifications.
PROJECT OBSERVATION
The PROJECT MANAGER will be at the project site periodically to monitor construction activities and
ensure that each work item is completed and constructed to design specifications. The PROJECT
MANAGER will be available during regular business hours (8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.) on weekdays.
Inspections will not be scheduled on weekend days or holidays without prior approval of the PROJECT
MANAGER. It is the Contractor's responsibility to schedule inspections with the Project Manager so as
not to delay the work. The following items must be observed and approved by the PROJECT MANAGER
before proceeding with additional work:
1. Completion of demolition activities;
2. Removal of all coal fines to the base of the B and M stockpiles backwalls;
3. Completion of all rolled dips;
4. Completion of all contour furrows;
5. Completion of drainage channels;
6. Completion of seedbed preparation prior to seeding.
ADDITIVE ALTERNATE
As an alternative to Task 8 b, construction of a lined channel segment, construction of a rip rapped
channel segment will be considered. Construction of a rip rapped channel segment is NOT
guaranteed, but may be constructed in lieu of the lined channel segment only at the direction of the
PROJECT MANAGER. If constructed, the rip rapped channel segment will take the place of the lined
portion of Stockpile B channel, Segment two.
