TASK I MOBILIZATION AND DEMOBILIZATION
This task shall comply with specification 1.0, Mobilization/Demobilization, attached.
TASK 2 DEMOLITION
For purposes of the demolition task, all concrete structures located between the North Fork of Dutch
Creek east to the eastern most portion of the Warehouse area adjacent to Road A are subject to the
requirements of this task.
There are two overall objectives of the demolition task. The first is to demolish concrete and block wall
building remnants and foundations, conveyor foundations, asphaltic pads and similar materials which
are located within the work areas. The second objective is to remove the rubble produced by the
demolition process to designated disposal sites for burial.
Past demolition experience at Coal Basin indicates that substantial quantities of rebar are present within
most concrete structures. The estimated volumes of concrete and block wall materials at each work
area as observed at ground surface are as follows:
Conveyor Corridor 32 cubic yards
Stockpile B 39 cubic yards
Stockpile M Negligible
Warehouse Vicinity 2,642 cubic yards
The preceding figures are estimations, only. CONTRACTORS are encouraged to perform independent
verification measurements in order to ascertain the true volume of materials at each location.
Except as otherwise required in this Invitation to Bid, in those instances where foundations, rubble or
building remnants would be covered by a minimum of four feet K) of material as a result of backfilling
and grading operations contemplated in these Special Conditions (see Task 4, Earth Work), removal of
the structure is not required. All other rubble and assorted debris, including metallic and wood
materials, miscellaneous trash, debris'and scrap, encountered in the project area will be removed and
placed with the building rubble at the designated disposal areas so that no rubble or debris remain at
the work areas except at the disposal areas.
The concrete and block wall materials, and all other rubble, trash and debris, shall be placed against
the designated back walls and cuts, and shall be evenly spread at the base of these features along their
lengths. All of the debris and rubble shall be covered by a minimum of four feet K) of backfill material
during completion of Task 4, Earth Work.
Following is a general description of the demolition work to be accomplished at each work area. Failure
to describe specific concrete or block gall structures does not negate the requirement to complete
demolition as per these specifications.
7
