(300) offset from the road direction. Ripping will proceed from the east to the west as operations
move from the northern end of the road to its junction with the main Sutey access road.
Measurement and Payment
Payment for completion of this Task will be per lineal foot of road graded according to
the above specifications. Each of the specified road segments shall be measured
along its center line to the nearest foot. Payment for each road segment shall be made
at the price bid for the individual segments on the Bid Schedule , Items 4 A, B, C, and
D. Such Payment shall cover all costs for accomplishing the grading to specifications
of the roads described in this Task. Payment shall be considered full compensation for
all equipment and labor needed to accomplish grading to original contour the upper
and lower Sutey access roads, and the belt line transfer road, and for grading of the
North West Sutey access road. Payment shall be as this task is completed and
approved by the PROJECT MANAGER.
Task 5 CULVERT REMOVAL
Approximately seven (7) road drainage culverts are located on the roads scheduled for
reclamation during this project. Project Manager will locate each culvert to be removed
and place lathe and flagging at each prior to construction. Excepting the thirty six inch
(36") diameter culvert located on the main Sutey access road, near the confluence of
Ditches 1 and 8, the culverts are generally eighteen to twenty four inches (18" to 24") in
diameter.
Generally, road drainage culverts are buried by three feet (3) or less of ground cover at
the inlet. These culverts are constructed of corrugated metal pipe (CMP) in almost all
instances.
Culverts shall be excavated and removed from the site. All head walls, down drains or
other structures associated with the culverts shall be removed during reclamation. The
trenches which result from the extraction process shall be backfilled to the original
ground surface elevation. The backfill will be mechanically compacted in one foot (1')
lifts. However, the excavation of the large main Sutey access road culvert by Ditches
1 and 8 does not need to be backfilled, as a low water crossing shall be constructed at
this location (Task 7a).
All culvert materials or scrap encountered shall be collected and transported from the
mine site for disposal by CONTRACTOR. Extracted culverts may be temporarily
stockpiled near the main gate to the Coal Basin Mine. All extracted culverts must be
removed from the site prior to submitting for payment upon completion of this task.
12
