Aerial Application Requirements
At the beginning of the Project, the PROJECT MANAGER will delineate the margins of the
slopes to be affected using lathe and flags. Immediately prior to flying the site, the
CONTRACTOR will ensure that the flagging is sufficient for the pilot to see when applying
fertilizer, seed and/or mulch.
The CONTRACTOR shall supply necessary ground control in order to ensure that the specified
seed, fertilizer and/or mulch coverage is achieved. OWNER will evaluate coverage
immediately following application. If coverage does not appear to meet specifications, the
CONTRACTOR shall apply additional materials as necessary to meet these specifications at the
CONTRACTORS expense.
The CONTRACTOR will need to identify an acceptable staging area in the vicinity of the Project
Area. Suitable sites may be found due east of the Project Area near the vicinity of the former
Wash Plant.
Measurement and Payment
Measurement and payment for this Task will be as per Revegetation Specification 20.0.
Revegetated areas will be measured to the nearest 0.1 acre and paid at the unit price bid on the
Bid Schedule Item 4. The price bid shall include all costs for labor, materials, equipment and all
other items necessary for revegetation as described in these specifications. Payment for this
task will be made only for the unit price shown under Item 4 of the Bid Schedule. Payment shall
be as this task is completed and approved by the PROJECT MANAGER.
TASK 5 TREE PLANTING
Containerized trees may be planted on the Mine 3 and Mine 5 Fan benches, located just above
the Project Area slopes. Willow cuttings will be planted at the base of these two slopes. This
Task is NOT guaranteed, and will be completed only at the direction of the PROJECT
MANAGER, who will delineate the planting areas in the field. The CONTRACTOR will provide
frees, shrubs, polyacrylamide and necessary tools and equipment to accomplish planting
specifications.
Tree Planting
Two hundred (200) trees per acre will be planted on approximately four(4) acres.
Containerized seedlings, usually having from eight inches to fourteen inches (8"to 14") of growth
above the roots, are to be planted when dormant, i.e.; no earlier than late September. Species
to be utilized in equal numbers are Engleman spruce (Picea englemanii), Colorado blue spruce
(Picea pungens) and Douglas fir(Pseudotsuga menziesii). The PROJECT MANAGER may
reject seedlings whose root balls appear to be desiccated, molded or damaged, or trees that
appear to be unhealthy or dead.
Trees will be planted in a random pattern by using a 'hoe dad' or similar tool to excavate an
approximately twelve inch (12") deep hole in the soil. A small amount of hydrated
polyacrylamide will be introduced into the hole. A seedling will then be placed roots first into the
13
