TASK 4 REVEGETATION
The goal of this project is to apply fertilizer, seed and mulch to the slopes which were scarified
during performance of Task 2, Scarification. All fertilization, seeding and mulching will be done in
such a manner so that all portions of the outslopes and roadside cut and fill slopes receive the
correct amount of these materials per acre, and in a manner so that the materials are evenly
distributed over the slopes.
Aerial application of fertilizer, seed and/or mulch is acceptable, provided appropriate ground
control is provided. See aerial application requirements at the end of Task 4, Revegetation.
Table 1 , Mine Site Seed Mixture specifies the seed and application rate for the road cut and fill
slopes, and repair areas of the mine and fan benches and roads. Table 2, Outslope Seed
Mixture, specifies the seed and application rate for the mine and fan bench outslopes.
It is estimated that there are forty nine (49) acres to be revegetated during performance of this
Project, excluding reclamation repair areas. Twenty one (21) acres will be seeded with the
Outslope Seed Mixture, while twenty eight (28) acres will be seeded with the Mine Site Seed
Mixture.
Due to site conditions. no reveoetation efforts may be initiated prior to September 14, 1998.
In addition to the revegetation specifications outlined in Section 20.0 attached, the following
requirements will be adhered to:
Mine Bench Outslopes
Seed
The seed listed in Table 2, Outslope Seed Mixture, will be provided by the OWNER. The
CONTRACTOR must give the PROJECT MANAGER at least ten (10)working days notice of the
acreage to be seeded, so that the proper amount of seed is delivered.
Seed application rate will be at the rate specified in Table 2, Outslope Seed Mixture. In addition
to the seed listed in Table 2, the native seed which was collected in Task 2, Native Seed
Collection, will be applied to the outslopes. The native seed shall be applied at five pounds (5*)
per acre of Calamagrostis (Sp?) and two and one half pounds (2.5#) each of Senecio and Aster
glaucodes seed per acre.
Fertilizers
Fertilizer shall be provided by the CONTRACTOR, and shall conform to Section 20.2
(commercial fertilizer) of the Revegetation Specifications, attached. Fertilizer shall be applied as
per the attached specifications.
Seedbed Preparation
Seedbed preparation was accomplished on these slopes during performance of Task 3, Slope
Scarification.
11
