Special Requirements
Roads E, F, G, which provide access to Mines 3 and the Mine 5 fan outslopes have been
previously reclaimed, as has the final one half (1/2) mile of Road D as well as Road D-A, which
provide access to Mines 1 and 2. Additionally, the benches which immediately overly Mines 1, 2,
3, and Mine 5 fan have all been previously reclaimed. Access across previously reclaimed
areas must be minimized. It is recommended that, to the extent possible, access be restricted to
low ground pressure vehicles, and that the number of trips across these areas be kept to a
minimum. The CONTRACTOR shall restrict access across reclaimed roads to a no greater than
ten feet (10) wide corridor. Disturbance to reclaimed areas at the mine and fan benches must
be kept to a minimum. The CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for repairing any damage
which is sustained to previously reclaimed areas during performance of this project. At a
minimum, as part of this Project and contract, the CONTRACTOR shall rip the ten feet (10')
corridor on the reclaimed roads to a twelve inch (12") depth on no less than thirty inch (30")
centers. All rolled dips and drainage structures shall be reconstructed to pre-disturbance
conditions. Upon completion of outslope revegetation, the CONTRACTOR shall scarify all
portions of the reclaimed mine benches disturbed during construction by mechanically loosening
compacted areas. Upon completion of bench scarification and of road ripping and of drainage
structure and dip repair, the road corridor and mine benches shall be revegetated in accordance
with the revegetation specifications contained in Standard Work Specification 20.0, attached.
The CONTRACTOR is responsible for maintaining a safe work place. Safety ropes, harnesses
and similar equipment may be needed. All safety equipment shall be provided by the
CONTRACTOR. Due to the possibility of rock falling from above, steel toed boots and hard hats
must be worn at all times. An emergency communication device, such as a portable citizen
band radio capable of reaching radio operators near a telephone, must be maintained at each
work area by a designated work area supervisor or crew leader. A similar device shall be
provided to the PROJECT MANAGER so that communications may be maintained through the
duration of the Project. Cellular phone service is erratic at the Project Area, therefore a cellular
phone is NOT acceptable.
WORK TASKS
The tasks included in this project are as follows:
Task 1: Mobilization and Demobilization
Task 2: Native Seed Collection
Task 3: Scarification
Task 4: Revegetation
Task 5: Tree and Shrub Planting
Task 6: Hand Labor
Task 7 Additional Bid Items
7
