TASK 1 MOBILIZATION AND DEMOBILIZATION
This task shall comply with specification 1.0, Mobilization/Demobilization, attached.
Measurement and Payment
There will be no measurement for payment. Payment for this task will be reflected in a lump
sum bid under Item 1 on the Bid Schedule. This lump sum bid will cover all costs for
Mobilization and Demobilization. Payment shall be made as described in specification 1.0,
Mobilization/Demobilization, attached.
TASK 2 NATIVE SEED COLLECTION
The purpose of this task is to obtain seed indigenous to areas of the mine site which are similar
in nature to the outslopes subject to this Project. Seed from three (3) species shall be collected
and cleaned for the purpose of distributing them on the mine bench outslopes.
Seed shall be collected from the forb Senecio, the grass Calamagrostis and from the forb Aster
glaucodes. Examples of each plant shall be provided in the field by the PROJECT MANAGER.
The PROJECT MANAGER shall help the CONTRACTOR locate areas suitable for collection of
seed in nearby areas. Access to some, if not all, collection sites may be limited to foot, all terrain
vehicle (ATV) or horse. Vehicular traffic, such as trucks and heavy equipment, across previously
reclaimed areas is prohibited for the purpose of seed collection.
Seed shall be collected at maturation of each species. Seed shall be cleaned using commonly
accepted practices. At a minimum, sufficient seed shall be collected so that five pounds (5*) of
seed of Calamograstis and two and one half pounds (2.5#) each of Senecio and Aster
glaucodes is available for redistribution per acre on twenty five (25) acres. It is estimated that
one hundred twenty five pounds (125#) of Calamagrostis, and sixty three pounds (63#) each of
Senecio and Aster glaucodes seed will be collected to fulfill this requirement.
Measurement and Payment
Payment for this Task will be made per pound of clean seed. Payment will be made at the unit
prices established in the Bid Schedule at Item 2. This sum will cover all costs for collection of
seed, cleaning of seed and transportation from the collection site to the Project Area. Payment
shall be as this task is completed and approved by the PROJECT MANAGER.
TASK 3 SCARIFICATION
The goal of this Task is to scarify the steep slopes which are located below the identified mine
and fan benches and on the targeted road cut and fill slopes. When completed, the scarified
slope shall have surficial crusting eliminated and small benches will have been excavated. Map
4, Project Area, depicts the general locations of the mine bench outslopes and of the roads
subject to this Project. Approximately 49 acres will be scarified during performance of this Task.
The slopes below the mine benches vary from 600 to 900 feet in length, and are generally at
1 H:1 V or steeper. The slopes are generally composed of fine grained coal, sandstone and
8
