shall extend to within one foot (1') of the crest of the existing road cut. The slope of the fill shall
not be steeper than that of the slopes immediately above and below the fill area. All filled and
excavated areas shall be topsoiled and revegetated.
During completion of topsoil application the surfaces of the backfilled roads will be severely
roughened. See Task 9, Topsoil Application and Surface Roughening.
North West Sutey Access Road
The estimated length of this road segment is 300 feet. NOTE that this portion of Task 4 must be
completed in conjunction with Task 5, Rolled Dip Construction.
The North West Sutey Access road shall be graded so that a five percent (5%) grade to the east
(toward the Sutey perimeter ditch) is established for the length of the road. Excavation adjacent
to the ditch must be accomplished so that dirt is not introduced into the roadside ditch.
Upon completion of grading operations, the road segment will be ripped. The road shall be
ripped to a minimum depth of fifteen inches (15"). Rippers on a machine must not be set more
than thirty inches (30") center to center. The road segment will be ripped across the entire width
of the roadway. Ripping will be accomplished so that ripper lines are created at a thirty degree
(300) offset from the road direction. Ripping will proceed from the east to the west as operations
move from the northern end of the road to its junction with the main Sutey access road. The
road surface will then be severely roughened using the techniques outlined in Task 9, Topsoil
Application and Surface Roughening
Measurement and Payment
Payment for completion of this Task will be per lineal foot of road graded according to the above
specifications. Each of the specified road segments shall be measured along its center line to
the nearest foot. Payment for each road segment shall be made at the price bid for the individual
segments on the Bid Schedule, Items 4 A, B, C and D. Such Payment shall cover all costs for
accomplishing the grading to specifications of the roads described in this Task. Payment shall
be considered full compensation for all equipment and labor needed to accomplish grading to
original contour the upper and lower Sutey access roads, and the belt line transfer road, and for
grading of the North West Sutey access road. Payment shall be as this task is completed and
approved by the PROJECT MANAGER.
TASK 5 ROLLED DIP CONSTRUCTION
Rolled dips will be constructed on the north west Sutey access road and on the main Sutey
access road. The purpose of the rolled dips is to channel water from up slope areas off of the
roads to the out sides at frequent intervals. The locations of the rolled dips to be constructed
shall be marked in the field by the PROJECT MANAGER using wood lathe or other suitable
means prior to construction. It is anticipated that two (2) dips will be built on the north west
Sutey access road, and that ten (10) dips will be built on the main Sutey access road.
Rolled dips constructed on the North West Sutey access road will be built to the specifications
contained in Figure 2, North West Sutey Rolled Dips. The dips will be constructed nearly
perpendicular to the road length. Excavated dirt shall be placed on the down slope side of the
dip. The slopes of the dips shall not be steeper than 3HAV. The depth of the ditch at the outlet
as measured from the downslope side of the road adjacent to the dip shall be 1.75 feet.
12
