The Sutey Stream Diversion is approximately 1240 feet in length, and will be trapezoidal in
shape. This diversion will be constructed at the location of the currently existing diversion
channel. Large rock encountered in the channel during excavation of the Sutey Stream
Diversion shall be removed from the channel, and stockpiled near the bottom of Ditch 8 in a
location to be specified by the PROJECT MANAGER. The bottom of the channel shall be no
less than seven (7) feet in width. Side slopes will be excavated at a 2H:1 V angle. The depth
of the channel will be no less than 1 .8 feet as measured from the base of the channel to the
crest of the side slopes (Cross Section 4). The channel depth will be approximately three feet
(3') greater near the upper reaches of the diversion. The diversion will require additional
armoring through a bend. For a length of not less than 40 feet beginning at about 90 feet
below the upper extent of the diversion, the channel will be rip rapped with durable materials
having a D50 of three (3) feet. Additionally, the outside bank of the diversion will be
increased in height to four (4) feet through this reach. The depth will be measured from the
bottom of the channel to the crest of the outside edge of the channel. After excavation of
the channel is completed, the entire length of the diversion will be broadcast seeded with the
Sutey Diversion Mixture at a rate of sixty (60) pounds per acre. The seed will be provided by
the PROJECT MANAGER. The entire Sutey Stream Diversion length, excepting the riprapped
portions, shall be lined with fabric which will consist of a natural material such as coconut
fiber sewn between two ultra-violet stabilized nets. The fabric shall be installed as per
manufacturers specifications.
The Spring Conveyance Ditch, which will convey flow from a spring adjacent to the Sutey
Refuse Disposal Area, will be constructed near the upper reaches of the Stream Channel
Diversion. This channel will be approximately 300 feet in length, and will be constructed to
the specifications of Ditches 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 (Cross Section 1), except that no liner is
required. The Spring Conveyance Ditch will flow into the Stream Channel Diversion
approximately 500 feet below the beginning of the Stream Channel Diversion.
Measurement and Payment
Surface drainages will be measured to the nearest linear foot. Payment for this task will be
paid for at prices established in Task 4, sub-tasks a through j on the Invitation and Bid sheet
per linear foot installed. Such payment shall be considered full compensation for all labor,
materials, equipment and all other items necessary and incidental to the furnishing of all
materials and construction of the Surface Drainages as directed and described in the
specifications, including seeding. Payment will be as this task is completed and approved by
the PROJECT MANAGER. Payment for this task will be made only for the unit price shown
under Task 4, sub-tasks a through j, of the Bid Schedule.
TASK 5 EQUIPMENT RENTAL
Additional areas adjacent to the refuse disposal areas may require slope reduction, excavation
or erosion control work. A CAT D-7H or equivalent 215 FHP machine with operator, a CAT
416B Backhoe loader or equivalent 74 fhp machine with operator, and a five (5) cubic yard
on/off highway dump truck with operator shall be furnished for additional work as needed.
The hours outlined in Task 5 of the Bid Schedule are NOT guaranteed.
All work will be accomplished according to Specification 19.0, Equipment Rental, attached.
10
