Ditches 2 and 4 shall have a combined length of approximately 1 ,375 feet, and shall be
constructed to the same specifications as ditches 3, 5, 6, 7 (Cross Section 1). Ditch 2 shall
be constructed in coal refuse, while ditch 4 will be constructed in compacted colluvial
materials. Upon completion of excavation, the channels will be broadcast seeded with the
Sutey Diversion Mixture at a rate of sixty (60) pounds per acre. The seed will be provided by
the PROJECT MANAGER. The entire channel length and width shall be lined with fabric
which will consist of a natural material such as American Excelsior Corlex Double Net or
equivalent having ultra-violet stabilized nets. The fabric shall be installed as per manufacturers
specifications.
Ditch 1 will be constructed in an existing diversion channel. Ditch 1 begins north of the Sutey
Pile and traverses around the west and southern portions of the waste pile. At its
downstream end, the diversion will pass under the pre-existing access road through an
existing culvert. The access road adjacent to the diversion and refuse pile as well as the
culvert will not be disturbed by construction operations. Ditch 1 will be approximately 3,300
feet in length, and will be trapezoidal in shape. The base of the channel will be no less than
four (4) feet in width, with the side slopes excavated at a 2H:1 V slope. The total depth of
the channel, as measured from the base of the channel to the crest of the side slopes shall
be no less than 1 .2 feet. The width of the channel, as measured from crest to crest, shall be
no less than 7.5 feet (Cross Section 2). Large rock encountered in the channel during
excavation of Ditch 1 shall be removed from the channel and stockpiled near the bottom of
Ditch 8 in a location to be specified by the PROJECT MANAGER. After excavation of the
channel is completed, the entire length of the diversion will be broadcast seeded with the
Sutey Diversion Mixture at a rate of sixty (60) pounds per acre. The seed will be provided by
the PROJECT MANAGER. Ditch 1 shall be lined with fabric which will consist of a natural
material such as coconut fiber sown between two ultra-violet stabilized nets (North American
Green C125 flexible channel liner or approved equivalent). The fabric shall be installed as per
manufacturers specifications.
Ditch 8 will be constructed at the southeastern portion of the facility. Ditch 8 will primarily
be located in an existing gravel-lined diversion. Ditch 8 will consist of a fabric-lined channel
extending down the south-facing side of the facility for a length of approximately 800 feet.
This ditch will be trapezoidal in shape, the base being no less than five (5) feet in width and
the side slopes being no steeper than 2H:1 V. The width of the ditch as measured from crest
to crest will be no less than nine (9) feet. The total depth of the ditch as measured from the
base to the crest will be no less than 0.75 feet (Cross Section 3). Large rock encountered in
the channel during excavation of Ditch 8 shall be removed from the channel, and stockpiled
near the bottom of Ditch 8 in a location to be specified by the PROJECT MANAGER. Upon
completion of excavation, the channel will be broadcast seeded with the Sutey Diversion
Mixture at a rate of sixty (60) pounds per acre. The seed will be provided by the PROJECT
MANAGER. Ditch 8 shall be lined with fabric which will consist of a natural material such as
coconut fiber sown between two ultra-violet stabilized nets (North American Green C125
flexible channel liner or approved equivalent). The fabric shall be installed as per
manufacturers specifications.
9
