- Installed water sprays to control fugitive
dust during coal transfer ;
- Installed the tipple with a hydraulic gate to
control fugitive dust while the coal is
being loaded into the rail cars ;
- Routine maintenance of the road consisting of
repairing surfaces , snow removal , diversion ditch
cleaning , revegetating road cuts and other disturbed
areas .
H. Water Control Plan
Mid-Continent , in compliance with the Colorado Water
Quality Act and Federal Water Pollution Control Act has constructed
diversion ditches and a sedimentation pond pursuant to the NPDES
permit requirements (Permit No . CO-0039136-001 ) . (See Appendix
VII-H-1) . The pond is designed to contain and treat the projected
runoff from the 24 hour/10 year storm event computed for that
area . See surveyed design specifications at Exhibit VII-H-1 in
map jacket at the rear of this chapter .
The pond will be monitored and maintained as required by
the permit stipulations . For instance, it must be cleaned when
60% of the designed sediment storage capacity is reached and
it will be de-watered by syphon or pumping within 24 hours
following any runoff event to maintain storage capacity for a
25 year/24 hour precipitation event . Outflow control structures
and diversion ditches leading to the impoundment will be inspected
periodically to insure that they will function properly during
storm runoff .
9
