Letter APPENDIX C8
Victor Weyers
U.S. Forest Service
March 3, 1976
Page Two
- Attain land use and activity patterns that
minimize transportation needs while maintain-
ing high mobility.
- Minimize the negative impacts created by ex-
cessive use of the automobile.
- Regulate land 'use to facilitate the efficient
and economical provision of public facilities
and services.
- Establish an optimum population growth rate.
- Adopt a pay as you go policy to meet the
public facility needs resulting from urban
growth.
- Preserve historic buildings and characteristics.
- Promote more artistic, cultural , educational
recreational and other opportunities for mental ,
spiritual and physical growth of the individual .
The County is presently preparing a Growth Management Plan, and
its development will provide an opportunity to further review and
define the goals and objectives for the County and, specifically,
the Crystal River Valley.
In general , the County supports the idea of private land consolidation
to the Redstone Townsite area with the goal of eliminating scattered,
unrelated developments in the Crystal River Valley with the focusing
of inevitable growth in the townsite area. Such growth should serve
the immediate employment needs of the town of Redstone and Mid-Continent
Coal Company.
Hopefully, this information will assist the Forest Service in their
preparation of forest management plans.
Sincerely,
Joseph _Edwards, Jr.
Chao man
PITKIN COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
JEE/bk
37
